    Question for Windows Users

When I browse through RAW files in Windows with the view set as Icons the icon used to be represented as a picture of the actual RAW file. Since upgrading to the 6D2 all the RAW file icons are now displayed as an identical CR2 graphic.

Previous RAW files and all JPEGs still display the Icon as a picture of the file which is really useful when browsing quickly through folders.

So, the question is has anyone else experienced this or more importantly know of a fix?

    Re: Question for Windows Users

I suspect it may be that the Windows 10 thumbnail viewer codec needs updating for the presumably different 6D2 RAW files in the same way that PS/LR are occasionally slow to recognise new format RAW files.

    Cheers,
    John

Thanks John; I guess I'll have to be patient.

You can also try add-ons such as http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/ but I suspect that they are playing catch-up too.

              Re: Question for Windows Users

I think I'll wait for Windows to catch up. It the meantime I will probably shoot RAW and JPEG so the JPEG will give me a quick visual representation of the corresponding RAW file before I open it.

              Thanks all for your advice.

If you wait for Windows you may have a very long wait as Windows Codec pack hasn't been updated since 2015.

Fast Picture Viewer Trial has expired. I was not using it but it was installed and I was able to see the CR2 thumbnails as an image; not anymore
