    Landscape and long exposures question

Can anyone please advise me on settings...especially long exposure noise reduction and any other recommended settings...as a starting point I have a 10 Stop filter, soft grad filter, and I use mirror lock-up and the self timer to release the shutter.
Is there anything else should I set please?

IIRC the long exposure noise reduction is only a factor if you shoot JPEG.

one thing to rember is to map your hot pixels with exposures over 1 min. I use light room for this

forget about in camera settings, I never use either long exposure or high ISO noise reduction in camera, as shooting in RAW always better to sort it out later if needed

Oh that's good I always shoot RAW too but didn't realise the NR had no impact....thanks for the hot spots pointer Joe

For all my LE shots I don't bother with mirror lock up. I use an external time plugged in to the camera with a 2 secs delay after I have activated the timer, this should remove any chance of wobble.......well it works for me !

I do exactly the same. Not had any issues with shake either.

Depending just how extreme you want to get, you can also think about hanging a heavy weight under the tripod head for further stability and also not raising the centre column especially if shooting in windy conditions ...

Thanks Guys...I don't understand the plug in timer...why not the inbuilt 10 sec or 2 sec delay?

My centre column only extends 3cm....I hack sawed it off when i couldn't get down low with it...its tall enough for me with legs extended (tripods - not mine)

This is type of thing I use.

Some come with multiple ends for different cameras.

thanks antoeknee...I assume you need this because a 10 second delay is not long enough...or you need to trip the shutter at an exact moment.

same here, with cameras having better control over mirror vibration I don't see this as a problem anymore

have the same one and WAS going to use it last night with my bridge LE - until I saw the separate lead that plugs into the camera was lost !! hope yours is one lead rather than having a little lead and plug for the camera
