This is a sculpture representing the ships that used to trade uo and down the coast of Wales and used Aberporth beach for unloading coal and lime making the village a busy little port during the 19th century.

Thank you both. There probably is a reason for the two sections but I can't remember. I'll make enquiries. The stone in the middle is carved with images of herring for which Aberporth was once famous. The stones around the base have the names of the ships which traded out of the village carved in them. One of them belonged to my great grandfather.
