Another try of the moon and stars

My last chance to capture the moon before back to work(think it should be a full moon tue/weds night).
Took three shots one with a 16mm the other with all converters attached to a 300mm plus cropped and probably over sharpened lol, then later on i used my 16mm and just pointed to the stars, 30sec exposure,(looking up at the stars there didn't seem that many about 30/40 to the naked eye, yet there seems to be hundereds in the image?)

    #1 - 16mm- Moon looking a long way away

      Thanks Paul

You'll have great fun with that lens, good lens to give star trails a go.I'll try and dig up my attempt,

Nice shot of star trails Paul,
Are you going to give us the details for it. - eg exposure, aperture, is it stacked if so how many etc.
Like the foreground tree - as you seem to already know choice of foreground subject is so essential to many good night sky pics. If it was a stacked pic was the one with the tree painted in for just one from the stack?

Re: Another try of the moon and stars

Based on what I've been reading so far, star trails are a long process. Several and sometimes into the tens of photos at the same exposures then merged in photoshop later. The key to it is latching onto the north star as a guide or constant. Google Sky map app for Android really helps you zone in on the stars and is my tool for this purpose.

I just need to be more prepared as in wearing warmer clothes and you can be out there for an easy two hours doing this.

I'm going to have to try this. I really like them.

I keep looking at wide angle lens and then keep telling my self "no" LOL I'm dreaming of a 70D savings are not elastic ... oh for the lottery win.

Star trails look excellent especially with the tree
