    Milky Way in Glasgow

I was determined that I wanted a shot of the Milky Way in Glasgow. Taken 5 mins from my house, in the Campsie Glen, It was my first go at Astrophotography for about a year. It was the first thing I used to do with my kit lens and 600D and £20 tripod lol

It's a 5 image vectorama totalling 17,480 pixels high, and blended in photoshop. Quite frankly it worked out exactly how I saw it in the sky :)

    Cheers for looking.

Paul, what a wonderful, sumptuous, dreamy image.
For my benefit, what lens were you using, and what exposure times? Any specialist astro kit?

Very well done. It you could tone down the bright light on the RHS I sense it would be even better... Good job.

Great capture - have you tried using a LPR filter? Might help reducing that orange glow a bit.

I'm pretty much a novice at this sort of thing. This is only my 4th pic of this kind. I don't use any other kit apart from my lens camera and tripod. I don't know about any other filters that could help with this sort of thing to be honest :)

                The settings were

                ISO3200
                f2.8
                30 secs shutter
                focus to infinity
                mirror lockup

                  Nice One Paul, well done

In Glasgow, is "Milky Way" not normally pre-fixed with "Battered & Deep-Fried"?

Thanks. I think I'm going to visit the Galloway dark sky park. It's two hours drive from me, but I think it'll yield a better result. May as well before the scottish government litter it with wind turbines like what's been proposed.
