    Insomnia

Woke up at 4am today on my day off. It's freezing cold outside, but still went for a wonder...

In the reflection, you can see some stars in the left bottom corner known as the Southern Cross reflecting in the icy stream on the beach.

        Re: Insomnia

I like the shot just not sure about the reflection and would probably crop the water out up to the land as I think without those reflected stars it makes a stronger image

still well done especially for being out so early and cold

Oooooh - what a super image. I think those who have never been to the Southern Hemisphere can't appreciate the density of the stars in the night sky in that part of the world. Personally I wouldn't crop anything off the image as it is a brilliant record of the view looking towards our own galactic centre.
It is strange how reflected shots of stars in water look so intense - again a natural phenomena that you have recorded so well.
Last but not least - your 500px portfolio is top notch !
              Thanks for sharing.

Cracking shot Bruce. I remember the Southern Cross well from our time living in Brisbane.

                  Thanks everyone.

I know what you mean about the reflection of the stars Jim, I find the colour variation odd. I suspect the the majority of the stars visible by eye are blown out to allow for the faint ones, but the reflection in the water of the brighter ones is picking up their more natural colours as they are under exposed.

                  Thanks again everyone!

A beautiful picture, made possible by Pristine dark skies. Something that most of us up here can only dream of.

Reminds me of my visits to Western Australia, and going to a 'star camp', way out in the 'Bush', with the local Astro Society.

                    Nice work!!
