SWMBO and I were in Levi again last week and although we did not get any spectacular aurora displays, we did see some rather wonderful sun dogs. These are vertical columns of light which are part of an arc (the remainder not always visible) caused by tiny ice crystals in the air aligning and refracting the light when the sun is low in the sky. There is one in line with the sun and one each side. This image is of the central one, which was particularly strong when we were back in the town itself.
