    Treff,
Images like these are making me want to start processing B&W.

    This presses all my buttons.

      Treff, this is beautiful.

Can I ask, where exactly is it? I was born in Brecon, but only 12 months old when I moved to North Wales, and have been here ever since. I frequently travel down to Swansea and go past Brecon and the Crai reservoir - how close am I to these locations?

When I search for 'Black Mountain' it seems there is some confusion as there is more than one reference in the Beacons, one is west, one east etc.

      Cheers Ian

djguk47 and celtex thanks for the kind comments. BW was and is my first love in photography..........an age thing I think. The Black Mountain............yes it is a little spread out but if you head for Brynamman the Black Mountain is just North of there. It's very barren but when the light falls right there is some great pictures to be had. Yes I know the road from Brecon past the Crai very well still parts of a company car up there somewhere. You would be about 15 miles from the black mountain coming down to Swansea. Just take the Cwmtrch road at Brynamman turn right up the mountain. Hope this helps and I don't get you lost.
        Cheers

Thanks Treff, I know Cwmtwrch very well - spent a week most summers at my Nan's in Lower Cwmtwrch as a youngster - might make a slight deviation to my normal route next time I am down

Many thanks to all for looking and the nice comments. I will get around to printing these out for the coming club competition
season. I will be back to blame you all if the points are low LOL.

Treff, good luck with the competitions.
Judges..... they talk up an image then pause and say "15" or they point out all the "faults" and say.... "hold this one".... go figure....

Excellent composition and processing - the only thing i would do to improve is tone down the blown whites of the horses breast as its the first thing i notice

Thanks Stan, yes you are right about the horse a little blown on the breast. Thanks for that. From the last few club competitions I seem to be on a different wave length to the judges with my landscape pics. I am thinking about going into wildlife photography. I might get a few more points and you know what they say about points LOL.

Taken with your 17-40 good to see its depth and strength of colour transfer well into black and white.
