    First go at posting a pic also first go at converting to black & white.
    Any comments would be helpfull.

    Nice work albert mac. It looks a little dark in places on my monitor. Thanks for sharing.

      Personally I do not like the conversion although the water ripples look nice.

          Dont know why it`s so dark the pic on my hard drive is not as dark as this have put it as attachment hope it works

            Sorry Albert mac its lighter but I think it lacks a little contrast/sharpness. How are you converting the image?

              I hope you don't mind and please excuse me but here are the colour & mono versions.
              IMHO the white of the swan is much better in colour as is the whole image.

                Spot on Stephen.. the colour one is a lovely image (beak looks a little over-sharpened to me)...maybe crop a tad off the LHS?? not sure

                  I quite like the mono version - there is just not quite enough detail in Mum's feathers, and I think a bit more water in the foreground would help. Should be a perfect b and w subject with all the different tones. I love the drops of water on the babies' necks. Nice capture

                    Using cs5 i also think the colour is best but the idea was to try black and white as I have never bothered before

                      I have had a play with the image - I think you were unlucky in that this is not a good image to convert to monochrome
