    Black Cuillin, Isle of Skye

A while ago when walking on the beach by Loch Brittle I took a picture looking up into Coire Lagan because I wanted a record of the date and time of day because I liked the way the shadows were emphasising the ridges and gullies.
I plan at some time to walk up into Coire Lagan to get a picture of the Cioch, a notable rock feature.

In colour the picture wasn't up to much so a play with practically every slider in Lightroom 5 resulted in a B&W that maybe looks half decent.

You sure that's Skye and not the moon?...

With the strong contrast and black sky it looks quite otherworldly...

Very nice, just goes to show that sometimes it's worth persevering with an image.

Love the dark shadow areas which help too show off the gullies & crags. It,s a beautiful place to walk up into Corie Lagan, I have been there numerous times in the past and also up onto the Black Cuillin Ridge which gives spectacular views but it's not easy walking. I just wish I was still fit enough to do it.
Can't wait to see your pictures of the Corie etc.

Mono images need good contrast but for me there is just too much on this one with the dark areas just too black
