PS Monarch

This lovely little boat was on the River Frome in Dorset just downstream from Wareham. I confess to having been suspicious and quite prepared to dismiss it as a fake paddle steamer knocked up for the tourists. However, Google put me right and, not only is she a genuine paddle steamer but real steam powered too (albeit oil fired using a Victorian tar pump from Caerphilly Gas Works).

Their website says they're crying out for volunteers and that at least one recent sailing had to be cancelled due to lack of crew. Such a pity I live so far away
