I think Peonies lend themselves well to mono with their lovely wavy petals. Here are a couple of efforts, criticism v. welcome!

I think you are right, on my monitor they look a little flat could the take a little mor brightness and contrast to give them more punch? -

I agree needs more contrast but still very nice.
PeterThere will be times when you will be in the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. Don't be bitter because you can't record it. Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!Comment

I like the first one with the centre of the flower at the very corner. It seems to show off the curl of the petals very well.Di ~ Trying to take "the" photograph.
