Anyone that uses big telephoto's will be aware that the all encompassing sock design of the lens cap may be quite useful for transporting it safely, but not much good as a day to day lenshood.
So I go into the Pound shops with my lens hood and look through the food containers until I find a lid that fits. Brilliant solution and only costs £1. One downside is that they are transparent/opaque and in the heat of the moment I often put it down to take some shots and sometimes have a job to find it, especially if I have moved on in the taking of those shots.
With my new zoom, I thought I would rectify that problem and armed with my £1 lens cap, a can of £5 plastic spray paint and £2 Canon vinyl decals, I have lens cap MKII. At £8 not cheap, but much less expensive than Can's £200 version.
