    The colours of autumn

Nothing much, but the dark stormy sky drew me to the scene.

I like the composition with the broad sweep of the trees leading away, but the grass looks a bit bright and cheery for that grey sky. Perhaps B&W?

You're right black n white does work better.

      Thanks Rob

I like the composition also. I think the colour version is better. It is good to get the colours of the trees, the contrast between the dark sky and the ground. I think it is lost in B&W. The sky is the main focus and that comes out in the colour version. However, I think that maybe the photo is too saturated. Perhaps tone down the saturation and slightly less contrast. For me, the b&w is a bit too flat.
That's the thing with photography- we all see things differently.
Here is a great place to get varying opinions - then we can decide for ourselves which we prefer!

The colour version does look better with desaturation applied, either in PS or RAW editor. It doesn't affect the sky too much as it's quite grey.

I agree that my preference is the color version. It's not so common to see such a nice dark sky as this, and I actually think it contrasts well with the rich colors. I wouldn't desaturate...I like it.

I am tempted to buy an inferred filter, would make it even more striking

Would an infrared filter have the desired affect on a digital body?

Just my luck. I buy an infra red filter (720), and all we get is darkness and loads of rain. I bet its very wet in Wales as well.
