Paul, that is a lovely shot, great composition, lighting, colour and sharpness, and........No Sky Dishes to be seen.

Very good indeed to my eyes.

In fact, as Humber Bridge is on my To Do List, I must come and have a look at this too, can you give any more details where it is?

    Regards Paul

        Great shot Paul

If your heading for Hull and the Humber Bridge another area you might want to consider is Spurn Point, great for birds just for thought.

                Many thanks Paul,
The lighthouse is in a small village named Paull with two L's,(if you imagine the humber bridge is at the start of Hull, Paull is at the very end of Hull) Best time to visit is evening before sunset if you combine that with a high tide you can watch the large boats sail in and out of the Humber.
Just PM as you get nearer the time to go.

                    Re: The old Lighthouse (HDR)

Seems like an interesting location. If I may offer some comments:

                    1. It would be worth it to correct the leaning verticals perspective. What I do sometimes is to frame a bit wider, to take into account the image area that is lost when performing such corrections.

                    2. It's a pity about the contrails, but quite often there is not much we can do about them...

                    3. I am not a big fan of HDR, and even though this photo does not have an exagerated effect, still there is something that does not look quite right to me. It's the shadows, they should look denser with this type of sidelighting. Also, the overall contrast has suffered from the HDR treatment.

Splendid and even a vapour trail which I like in sky shots. I think I would have (tried) made the whitewash a bit whiter ... buts it's very effective as it is.

Nice one Paul. An HDR that doesn't scream HDR at me.

Many thanks for your time to comment Pdizarro.
As for question 1 ; the crop i agree is a bit tight and doesn't leave much room for any perspective correction,Unfortunately each side of the lighthouse had parked cars all around and couldn't even step back due to somebody's front garden, but your right it could have done with a little perspective shift.

Question 2 ; contrails as you say, there's not to much i could do, I would've like a few clouds to be honest.

Question 3 ; This was a tricky shot for me, with the low sun making the whites very bright i was having difficulty bringing out any detail elsewhere in the shot ,So decided to take 5 images and put it though the HDR treatment. These kind of shots are out of my comfort zone but i was pleased how things turned out, i know HDR always give that false look to them but tried to play safe with both blacks and whites too some degree can always add or take away some of the high/low lights if necessary.

                          Many Thanks again

I like the processing Paul but the composition seems a bit too tight, particularly to the right but your previous reply answers why
