Thanks for the replies guys. I think number 3 is my favourite aswell. It was really a test of the Monopod that I got as a Bday present last week and I have to say the Monopod is very Sturdy and lightweight.

Ah the one above does have a look of decay about it ... but as said above it may be dis-used but it isn't de-watered. I was walking the filled in Lancaster Canal (upper reaches) near Kendal ... which has definitely gone ... BUT ... like a phoenix there are plans to restore it (much like the Skipton-Colne and Keswick-Penrith railways I'll believe it when I'm traveling on it).

Nice set of shots ... thanks for sharing.

It is a shame that these are left to ruin I think that they should be restored as they are part of the history of this country.

Hi Paul I'm not a canal buff but while I agree, restoration does not seem to last. A decade and a half (sounds better that way) everybody that was unemployed or at a lose end for miles around was roped into restoration, (of the canal I mentioned above) It became widely used even just for its foot path; however the trust that organised it sem to have abandoned a good 50% of it and theres substantial trees growing in the middle!

I'm not a buff either but I do like to walk in nice areas and quite enjoy walking down canal routes it is a shame that they have abandoned 50% of it but I suppose it comes down to money at the end of the day

Thanks for sharing Paul. The 3rd image,as everyone else said, is the best in the series.
