      Re: Salisbury Plain

      Blimey, that brings back memories.
I was there in the early 1980's with the TA. We'd parked up our Fox armoured cars after a night exercise, it was bitterly cold and I'd put on just about every piece of warm clothing I had with me. For extra warmth, I crawled inside my sleeping bag and wormed my way onto the rear engine cover to soak up the heat. I remember waking up to blazing sunshine and high temperatures and I couldn't get out of all my wrapping quickly enough, I thought I was going to croak from all the heat. Happy days!

You take them in B/W or did you process them to B/W? Ik the number 2 the most. Great landscape!

Apart from he few images on the website that were shot on medium format film, all the images inc. the three above were originally shout as RAW and converted to B & W in Lightroom.

To be honest #1 doesn't do much for me but 2 and 3 are cracking shots, I really like the atmosphere created by #2 and in #3, if that had been a Churchill or Sherman Tank, shot in France after D Day it would have been an absolute Classic, but still good as it is.

                      Regards Paul

                        fair enough.

I guess No. 1 needs to be seen in the context of the whole set. Imber village (where it was shot) was evacuated in late 1943 to provide a facility for US troops to train in street fighting prior to D-Day. There are precious few original buildings left, and the village remains in the middle of a live firing area. It is only open to the public a few days of the year.

That's a good point, on occasion pictures need to be given a context to help tell the story.

Oke, thanks. I am shooting also in RAW. But I never convert photo's to B/W. Perhaps, I must start with that.
