Pratto Piazza, Dolomites

After walking from the previous night's accommodation at the foot of the peak in the middle of the image, but off in the distance, we had a quick stroll before dinner. As we were approaching the Refugio we could see a rain storm approaching and then we were treated to one of those moments that usually happens after the storm is over when the light is just ... right.

A low sun angle bringing out the texture of a lumpy ground always works for me

Lovely shot Scott and some cracking images on Flickr. Brings back memories of a cycle tour in the Dolomites. We stayed in a refuge close to
Tre Cime di Lavaredo called Refuge Auronzo (I think).

They are indeed spectacular and I was really impressed with the refugios which are so much more than the name suggests.
