    Saltwick Bay

I had a couple of days out earlier this week. One of the places I visited was Saltwick Bay. It was the first time I had ventured down to this bay, an interesting place which; seems to be popular with photographers. The rock formation sitting behind the wreck of the Admiral Van Tromp is Black Nab.

Anyway here's one of my efforts for your thoughts, comments and critique.

    Three RAW files merged to HDR in PS5. Original EXIF ISO100, f16, 1/80 + 1/125 + 1/200

The Admiral Van Tromp was a Scarborough trawler that ran aground on 30/09/1976, two of the crew lost their lives in the incident. The exact circumstance of the accident remain a mystery as the boat was on completely the wrong course and a senior nautical surveyor at the inquest stated it appeared it was driven onto the rocks deliberately. Further details are available HERE

Interesting shot, like the way the lines and elements are arranged.
Maybe a tad muted, but still good.

I like the shot. Nicely composed. Like how the lines lead you right to the center

Looks a good location and nice shot. Might be tempted to crop a little of the foreground

The foreground looks good to me, the textures, tones and cracks all add interest. I wouldn't crop that shot at all. I think it's a nice shot, Peter.

Edit, is this place easily accessible? Say in the early morning, prior to sunrise?

A cracking shot Peter, I think the low viewpoint really helps too.

              Re: Saltwick Bay

Cheers guys, I made quite a number of images around the wreck area using various compositions mainly trying to bring the two elements (wreck and Nab) together with differing aspects of foreground interest. The Bay itself has at certain times of the year potential for both sunrise and sunsets with the tide in or out.

Andy the path down to the sandy beach is very steep in parts but it does have steps in the steepest parts. The rocks beyond the sandy beach are quite slippy as well, you need to check the tide tables prior to going. Let me know if you fancy a trip there and I'll see if I can meet up with you.

Thanks Peter, that sounds like a plan! I might know another forum member that could be up for a visit too. Thanks for the suggestion!

Very nice picture although the weather and light could have been a little kinder I think.

You're correct Treff, neither the light or weather were kind. In fact as we were climbing down to the beach I said to my mate " I feel a black and white day may be appropriate for these conditions" to which he replied "black and white HDR" 🙈🙉🙊
I'm not a fan of either but...if I get some time and inspiration I may give that a go, or even more difficult (for me) a three bracketed image blend.

Would his Christian name have the same first letter as mine 😎, sounds good to me I'm in London Mon-Wednesday next week, anytime after that would be good though.
