    Ladybower sink hole

Not sure about this one thought id put it up anyway to show the place ,the front is cut off because of a five and half foot stone wall making the angle very difficult and the light is dreadful but i do like the water movement. cheers for looking

That's different, and very effective Dave.

A bit "close encounters of the third kind"

The "point of no return" if you got washed over the edge I reckon.

Nice picture. It's actually a type of bellmouth spillway.
When I saw your title I thought a hole had appeared on the dam.

Cracking shot Dave but, wow is that scary - bit like the proverbial black hole.

I agree with you about the B&W shot Dave and do prefer that - For me the icing on the cake would be seeing all the sink hole, but by the sounds of things that wasn't possible, so you made best, and its good

I saw both of these on Flickr yesterday. In my view its almost there. Something about it that's lacking but I don't know what. It could be that the hole is too dominant for the rest of the shot, does that make any sense at all, god knows.

You could well be right Alan,it's not one of my favourite shots I've taken, I think a wider angle lens could have yielded better results maybe

Yes that would have helped but you were very wide anyhow. Did you use a filter as the shutter time is long?

Hi Al its 17 mm on a crop sensor so its not that wide ,i used an nd grad just to keep the sky in check, but waited until the light dropped to get between 6 and 30 second exposures

Dave, yes I noticed that after posting. I too have the 7D and use a Sigma 10-20. Its gives great IQ just what those verticals though.
