    Teignmouth and the Teign Estuary

Not sure about this one but thought I'd post it to see what others think (view on Flickr for the full pano effect).

It's of Teignmouth, Devon and the mouth of the river taken from Shaldon. I know the shoreline is distorted but that's an inevitable consequence of a multi-image stitch and, by standing closer or cropping it out, I could have avoided it but I like it.

Shaldon, incidentally, is a gob-smackingly beautiful village but after wandering around it on Saturday, I was frustrated by parked cars and wheelie bins ruining every possible shot so only took a few from the beach.

I'm not to sure about the land in this one John but those clouds are great i like how you have framed the one in the top right and then the eye follows them through into the distance.

        Thanks Ian and Dave

I'm with you both on this as I wasn't sure either. It's a great view of a busy estuary (taken from a pub garden!) with lots happening from kids messing about in small dinghies right up to coasters calling at the port on the far side but sometimes a photograph - not even a multi-image stitch - can capture it all. Viewing it on Flickr helps but it's the kind of picture that needs to be printed LARGE to give access to all that lovely detail. And the 'bendy beach' may be a bit too far

        Cheers,
        John

I think this is a problem with panos they need to be viewed large and often get lost as small images - I looked at some of my old panos on my TV screen (60'') now thats the only way to look at these images ;o)

I rather like that John, lovely clouds in a good sky too. The colour of the sand does fight against it though. This might seem harsh but cropping up to above the red boat with some clever content aware fill will remove that and add some more water to finish off the lower portion. Hope that doesn't come across too negative? My immediate thought was

Thanks Alan. This really was just a try it and see exercise and in the final analysis I can see it didn't work nor do justice to those clouds. The simple solution to get rid of the bendy-beach effect is to stand closer to the water and I may have some more images where I did that. No problem if not as I really do want to get back again (preferably when the tide's in): train to Teignmouth, passenger ferry to Shaldon, lunch in one of the great pubs, take lots of photos and home again (all before my wife is home from work )

              Cheers,
              John
