    Courtyard Garden

Whilst doing my thing walking the little streets and poking my nose into open doors I saw this little courtyard so was able to get in and take a snap - I could have spent longer in there but someone pointed me towards the door ;o(... should have left it open then ;o)

Looks like an interesting place to explore Ian, however the image overall is not working for me.

You seem to find some amazing places to shoot Ian and I will go against the grain with this one and say its got plenty of interest for me. No one is saying why it doesn't work - I suppose the only slight downside is the half chairs in the bottom left

It doesn't work for me because there is not one focal point in the image to catch my eye. The 2 strong leading lines in middle of the image leads the eye to the corner top floor where there is nothing to look at. Had there been a flower, person, etc on the balcony would have made it a better image. As it is, I find my eye wondering around the image in search of interest.

So if I skip the leading lines and move for bright to dark, the brightest part of the image is that center column. So the eye goes to that, then the brightness then leads to the blank wall on either side. Again, any of the plants, tables, etc are in the shaded part of the image except for that one plant on the right, which IMO is not that interesting. I think that the table would of been a better focal point, but that is my opinion.

Lastly, because of the strong leading lines on the balcony and the strong tonal difference on the bottom, I keep thinking that this is two images in the making. So those are the reason it doesn't work for me.
