More Geomorphology and a crop of ideas.

We had a rare day last week while most of the country was having cold and rain so took a walk in Glen Sligachan again in warmth and sunshine.
As I started out at 1pm the light was not going to be interesting and I only took some snaps of the walk. I headed towards Marsco.

As you can see the light was harsh. Eventually I was alongside the hill and took a full frame shot because I liked the shapes of the hill, rock and the colours of the vegetation. Admittedly it doesn't make a very engaging picture.

After doing the processing I thought that a few crops might help.

So which one works for you? Any suggestions for another crop or what to try on another visit?

Nice set and good story. My fav by some way is the first. The rocks and water in the foreground I like

On the close-ups we don't really get an idea of scale so don't know what it was that so impressed you.
So I'm with Parsen in voting for the first as we can see size and distances.

Sadly you weren't blessed with the best lighting. A nice sunny day is great for a walkabout but the lighting tends to be a bit flat and often you just don't get any modelling, at least not the sort mountains need. The first two are the best images, the crops just lose the imposing form of the mountain.

I suspect that mono with a bit of work is you're best option. Something like this is what I'm thinking of...

              Thanks all for the comments.

Lunarbo, I find landform interesting and sometimes the shape and texture of smaller bits of hills can be fascinating in an abstract sort of way so I was seeing what I could do with the crops.

Black and white, that's an idea, thanks for the example El Sid, so I had a fiddle in Lightroom and used about every slider on the right hand panel.

whilst I like your B&W conversion of this you need to ease of a bit with the vignette as its a bit strong

                  Thanks Ian.

I swung the slider back and forth quite a bit and couldn't make up my mind.

An interesting set and question. For me, of the crops, the last one works best compositionally as the foreground boulder forms a nice lead in with the fold of the rock.
