    An evening tour

Yesterday evening was my first trip out with photography in mind since my operation (seven weeks come Thursday). It was my intention to capture a particular sunset. Sadly the tide and time wait for no man, so I failed miserably with my intended sunset. But I did get out and about even if I was travelling light in terms of camera kit. I hope you enjoy this little tour.

#1 My intended sunset would have to have had the sun setting over the humpbacked whale that you see here.
    Exif: ISO100, f16, 1/10sec, Lee 0.9 soft grad.

#2 Time and Tide, this is why I didn't get my intended sunset, high tide was forecast as 23:40, I left the wreck (#1) at 19:50 and only just managed to get back to the beach without paddling. But the sun did light up the cliff for me and the diagonal light on the horizon help overcome my disappointment.
    Exif: ISO100, f16, 1/15sec

#3 Off to Whitby we go, I must have picked a good spot as there was an open top bus behind me with all the passengers shooting over my shoulder with their phones .
    Exif: ISO100, f19, 1/60sec.

#4 Nearly home, just time to call in at Saltburn for the sunset, I was just a bit too late, to get the composition I was hoping for.
    Exif: ISO100, f16, 1/30sec, Lee 0.9 soft Grad, cropped ratio 16 by 9.

    Good set Peter

With better light and sunset the wreck would be well worth visiting again

Nice set Peter, like the shot of the abbey, lovely lighting, great sky detail and good composition with the sun slowing through the abbey window.

They are smashing, the sun twinkling through the window looks stunning. Seems to be a common theme going on here with several of us recovering from surgery, hope you perk up quickly.

Really good set Peter although a shame the tide wasn't your friend this time around. Glad you're up and about again

I always find if I go out with one shot in mind it's never there for one reason or another. But there's something else instead..and you've certainly found those.

Nice set, nš 3 the pick of the bunch for me.

Hope you're now on the mend after surgery

                        Re: An evening tour

Thanks everyone for joining me on the little tour, I'm pleased with the Abbey image but I may look at the others in the set to see how they compare before printing a sample for SWMBO to decide if it becomes a wall hanger or not..
Thanks also for the good wishes wrt my recuperation, unfortunately I have a bothersome post operative complication.
Nothing serious I'm just carrying what looks like a water melon on my front!
The medical term for my watermelon is "Seroma" my surgeon has already aspirated it and removed three quarters of a litre of fluid from it. But sadly seven days later I had refilled the watermelon. I'm now back to the size prior to the last fluid removal.
My next appointment with the surgeon is on the 8th June, fingers crossed he will repeat the fluid removal and from then on my body won't produce any more and I shall have returned to my racing snake like figure [emoji3] [emoji85][emoji87][emoji86]

Hope you lose the 'watermelon' soon and back to full fitness.
