    Re: A Summer Saunter

Prefer the second of the two.

I can't help but be dismayed at the barbed wire interfering with the first shot & personally would have done any kind of jiggling with camera to keep the ugly stuff out of the shot. Presume it didn't upset you in the same way!

Have to agree with Lunarbo, would have liked to see some shots of the shoreline without the Barbed fence.

Interesting observation, cheers guys. No it didn't bother me at all, in fact I quite liked the angular aspect and the convergence of the lines.

Here's a similar shot without the wire, just the view.

Nice set Wayne, prefer the last two shots. In the first image the ugliness of the barbed wire contrasts with the beauty of the scenery but the fence leads the eye away from the (to me) the "focus point" of the distant bay and cliff.
Love that sky in the second one.

Personally I wouldn't choose to have the wire in the shot but honestly, I don't mind it in yours. Yes the third one is better for it but at the same time seems to be lacking something. Hope that cleared that up

                        Much happier without the wire!

                          Re: A Summer Saunter

At the risk of being controversial, surely 1 & 3 are entirely different shots. #3 is a land/seascape good enough in its own right, but #1 is a story - of a walker constrained to the cliff-top and path by a barbed wire fence, striding out towards the distant lighthouse.

Cheers all for looking and commenting. Russell, i pretty much agree with you. I posted no 1 as I liked it with the walker and the distant goal along the coast path. I'd never considered the barbed wire as unsightly. However, it seems that lots of people prefer a more natural landscape "look". And that's why I put up the 3rd one. There's a couple more from the same stretch of coast on flickr but I thought the original 2 were the most interesting.
