            I like the shot Stan but it seems a tad flat - I'm not sure if its because the sky & sea are almost the same blue but something isn't working for me

              I see what you mean Ian - it was a lovely day but there were no clouds which would probably have lifted somewhat

              the in camera HDR seems to work well
              it seems to work fine with 3 shots, +1, 0, -1 but if you try +/_ 2 or 3 then you seem to get a lot of halos

                Nice view Stan, but IMO the HDR has almost balanced the water with the sky with very little tonal difference between the two.

                  I've found some incamera HDR shots do have halo problems but its not so much the stops but the subject, if you have a bright sky and a dark tree then you may have problems, but this can be sorted during PP by taking the separate images and processing them rather than letting the camera merge them - so long as your aware of this using +/- 2 or 3 is fine
