    Buttercups and Trees

Taken last week in the Yorkshire Dales.

A summer scene from near Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. Vibrant yellow Buttercups amongst lush green grass overlooked by a copse of trees.

Really good Andy, it has a very serene calm feel about it.

This might seem petty but my eye is drawn to the two dandelions. Being white they really stand out amongst the sheet of yellow

                      Thanks again guys.

I spotted the Dandelions and purposefully included them in the shot, in hindsight maybe not the best decision.

                              Re: Buttercups and Trees

                              Thanks Paul.

I found that there's a bit of a learning curve as far as focusing for landscapes goes, at least if you want relatively consistent sharpness from front to back. My usual method with the 24-105, was to focus 1/3 of the way into a scene and that tended to work quite well.

I actually returned my first copy of the 16-35 f/4, thinking that it was a bit soft, but this was most likely due to me sticking with my usual focus method and it not really suiting the ultra wide angle lens so well. The 2nd copy was pretty much the same, so I made contact with someone I know who has the same lens.

His method of focusing (at least at the 16mm end), is to not use any of the auto focus at all, instead just manually move the focus ring round to the red F16 mark on the barrel and then just about everything from a few feet away should be in focus. It seems to be working for me, unless I get sloppy and accidentally nudge the focus out.
