    Silver Birch

Whilst on holiday by 17-85 gave up the ghost and with any repair likely to cost more than the lens value, decided to replace it with the 24-105 f4 L IS, used from MBP.

One of the first testing shots from Arne on Sunday

Looks nice and sharp Stan ,I've seen quite few shots of silver birch this year where the image has pp using split toning and it does really work well with these type of shots

      Re: Silver Birch

Despite age of design still one of my favourite and most used lenses. My walk round lens most of time.

Excellent value too at £425 from places like HDEW and even more so at secondhand prices.

I had forgotten about HDEW - I paid just below that secondhand - however I did need it quickly as we have a practical night at camera club this evening

Seems quite a robust lens so S/H shouldn't be an issue. And of course if you needed fairly soon then that's best option.

Some comments about vignetting on FF but lens profile in LR seems to negate most of this.

            Re: Silver Birch

The lens is unmarked so looks good as new and seems to be performing OK - if nothing else it will be better than the 17-85

Think S/H prices probably reflect normal UK price of £600 plus.
