    Gormire Lake Part two

Having previously started a thread about Gormire Lake and having some help with the post processing (thanks Alan et-al) I decided to have a look at other images from the same shoot to see if there was anything worth processing. I also decided to try out the HDR feature within Lightroom!.

This images was taken about twenty minutes after the image in my original Gormire thread and a little bit to the left of the original as seen by the position of the Lake. I was actually walking back to the car and couldn't resist capturing this sky.

This posted image is the result of three images, I processed one of the three then synchronised the other two images to the same parameters in LR. The three synchronised images were then brought together using the merge to HDR in LR. From that result I took the DNG file into PS to use NIK "Define and Pro Contrast filters.

As always your comments. thoughts and criticism would be most appreciated.

Don't be sorry Dave, Is it all of the image or just the sky?

Whilst both the sky and the scenery are attractive in their own right, they just don't seem to belong together

scrolling up to lose the sky completely for me makes a much better image

Hi Pete ,I think there is a lovely shot there with pp pulled back a tad.have the clarity and shadows been lifted to much and the highlights dropped to far .it looks a little unnatural to my eyes, ,this is only my opinion mate and as long you like it then that's all that matters

Thanks Stan and Dave for your comments and suggestions, I shall give then a try out. My main concern is the different hues of the blue in that cloud formation /sky the like of which I've never seen before.

                    Re: Gormire Lake Part two

Looks like a great spot but it just looks too unnatural for me. It just looks like school montage for me.
The lines of the clouds looks unnatural and too HDRish, the horizon looks to contrasted but I know nothing.

I'm with Stan as the scenery is very attractive, but the sky just doesn't look natural and seems to take away from the over all image IMO

Thanks everyone for your comments, much appreciated. I've now reworked the image and included the crop suggestions. Hopefully I've interpreted your suggestions correctly.

Which if any of these crops/edit work when considered against my original posted image.

Edit 2, Slight crop of the sky with different post processing.

Edit 3, the same composition as the original but different post processing.

Edit 4 with the majority of the sky cropped

I like edit 3 but it seems a tad flat, this can sometimes happen when processing HDR, but you have to be careful when pulling it back as that can introduce noise

Your first post gets the from Pete. What an amazing sky, really draws you into the shot. My only niggle is the small area of blown sky dead central

For me Peter you need 1 more crop where you leave only 1/3 of the sky visible.
