Re: Castle ruins
It's a lovely scene and well composed. But it needs more processing to make it zing. Lift the shadows in the foreground, darken the sky, add some clarity and lose the dot in the sky.Alan.

Re: Castle ruins
Agree it needs further processing - the sky is a bit washed out and foreground is in shadow. Here is a quick 30 second edit using the basic sliders in ACR - very similar to those in lightroom or elements if you are using that
highlights and whites move to left, shadows to right and a touch of clarity

Re: Castle ruins
Tiger, agree with what has been said; great composition and the landscape is very dramatic and you have captured this well with the interplay of light and shade, but Stan's edit just adds more detail and interest whilst retaining the overall feel. But obviously a higher quality finish would be had by going back to the raw. Interested in seeing what else you captured on the day.Canon EOS 7D

Re: Castle ruins
Cheers Alex, having problems with my computer at the moment, my screen image has gone huge and I'm struggling with windows 10 trying to get it back to normal, so no point trying to edit anything whilst the pictures stretched sideways, bloody infuriating Microsoft crap.
Got the swine, updates had put the "snap to" function on, fitting images to the screen, happy Easter bunny again, tempted to switch the blasted updates off as I like it like it is, not like some pimply 20 year thinks is bloody cool.Last edited by tigerburnie; 28-03-2016, 15:02.Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

Re: Castle ruins
thats a much better image - HDR doesn't have to be about extremes its just another way to pull more from an image:- Ian
