The ruin of the Church of Cill Chriosd

Again another image from a visit in 2013 to Skye. I have looked at this image on a number of occasions with a view to processing it. This morning I decided to try and do it justice from a processing perspective.

    Exif:ISO100, f16, 1/25sec

    Edit to add additional images

#2 The edit following your feedback, cheers

if I'm honest Peter not sure about this one - you want the ruin to be the feature of the shot but it seems to get lost with the grass, and I don't think even doing a crop would work..

I kinda see what Tiggs is saying, it's as if the grass is a bit too green, maybe tone it down and see if it helps?

Cheers Ian , I know what you mean and that's probably why I didn't process it before now. I did crop of some of the grass on this one I'll have a look and see if any of the other images taken from a different angle are better. But...don't hold your breath, as if it has taken me three years to get round to processing this one it may be a while. Or maybe just until the middle of May when I shall be back on Skye.

I see what Ian means, before I read his comment my first thought was it needs a bit more sky, I think somehow the Roof is a bit too near the top of the frame, if you happen to have more sky on the original, use that but crop some grass would be my idea.

Thanks for looking and commenting Patrick and Paul, I've reprocessed the original image and included an additional image to the thread.

It's an almost for me Peter. Have you thought about cropping the first hard from the right to just beyond the large tombstone? It focuses the eye on the ruin and balances this with the two gravestones. The downside is you lose the hills and the moody sky.

I think the edit works, much better with the grass desaturated. Agree with parsen66 that a hard crop would help but think the loss of the sky would spoil the image.

Without putting too many cats amongst too many pigeons, maybe try a mono?

I'm thinking that this would look very good as a BW image.

personally i think all three shots would work extremely well converted to b/w ,the bottom one especially and try to add some mood into it .these were made for nik efex
