    Striking image John. Sometimes I find the easiest way to remove halos along a building or tree line is to zoom right in with PS and tidy it up with the cloning tool.

      I get the same issues a lot of the time with HDR Efex and as you same the halos are mainly CA - I use the unsharpened RAW files which have no CA but that doesnt seem to make any difference

        Thanks Tony and Stan for the useful comments.

        I've just revisited this and altering my workflow has made a huge improvement - while there is still a halo it is far less evident and is now without the fluorescent green tinge.

        What I did was to merge the (untouched) RAW images to HDR in Photoshop first before exporting the result to HDR Efex to use the editing tools it provides. Then back to LR to adjust the verticals and final process.

        I concede it's still not perfect but it was a useful exercise as it now seems possible that it's the merging process in HDR Efex that is the main source of the CA type halos:
