Another image from my trip to New Zealand. The Lake forms part of a Hydro Power system that if memory serves me correctly connects seven areas of water to provide a hydro electric system.
As always I welcome your thoughts and comments.
Edit:
After I had published the post I realised that the title was incorrect. The first image isn't of Lake Tekapo. But I was actually en route to Lake Tekapo when I made this image which is actually of Lake Pukaki, sorry if I caused any confusion with my miss-titling of the thread.
#1 The Southern end of Lake Pukaki (not Tekapo) looking West.
#2 This one is Lake Tekapo as viewed from the University of Canterbury's Mount John Observatory site. I went up to have a look and a coffee at the Astro-Cafe. The road up has some serious hairpin bends and a fee to pay to drive up it. It was extremely windy on the top of Mount John and I was hand holding the camera whist trying to remain on my feet. One of my travelling companions did a night time tour at the observatory (1 to 3 AM). Some of the night sky tours earlier on the night I made this image were cancelled due to high winds.
The little Church which featured in my thread "Church of the Good Shepherd" LINK is on the far side of the lake outlet mid point on the towns shore line on the right side of this image.
