    Salisbury Cathedral low light

    Whilst replying to rabscallans cathedral thread, I looked out my folder of cathedral shots from a couple of years back when we did a photo workshop there. This was taken right at the end of the day on the way back to the car park. Its about a 30 sec exposure

    I like Salisbury and it's Cathedral (been there many times, especially when doing some work at Wilton). That's a nice picture ... like the starburst from the top of the tower.

        There will be times when you will be in the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. Don't be bitter because you can't record it. Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!

          I think you nailed the exposure, in what was obviously very difficult lighting!

              Thanks very much guys.
              I remember being very pleased with it when first taken, I think it was about the first time i had tried low light shooting. I had it printed at 15" x 10" and it did well in camera club competitions

                Stan with shots like this why are you messing around with the 7D and those big white lens????

                That is a great shot and I can see why it did well in competitions

                  Well I'm generally not much good at landscape type shots and really I am a day time person. To get the best from landscapes you need either to be up very early in the morning for the sunrise or the hour or so after - too late by the time i get up - or stay out late for the sunset and darkness.

                  Having said that both Dee and I are going to have to make the effort as the subject of one of the competitions later in the year is landscape
