    Boscombe Pier

This is a re work of a shot from about 18 months ago, taken during the last of the evening light. I wanted to turn it into a wide angle panoramic view so as well as cropping i have "stretched" the shot horizontally

Very effective, the dark foreboding sky just adds to the effect. Very nice indeed. Also like the symmetry

Great shot Stan, the lamps look good lit and the sky is such a feature. It looks like it goes on for miles.

Great shot. What a depth in the picture. Are those colours for real, of did you do something with it?

the colours are quite accurate. I did apply a slight warmth to the raw file in ACR before opening in photoshop and then a seperate levels layer for the sky and the foreground. In each case I tweaked the red, blue and green channels seperatly, moving the left and right sliders towards the centre until just before the shadow/highlight warnings appeared and then in RGB moved the centre slider to the left to improve the contrast

Very nice Stan, lovely sense of perspective and the people on the rhs are good to have in too. Did you try a slightly offset stretch too (more on one side than the other)? I wonder what that would look like?

I think left and right have to be equal, almost like a mirror image and would not look right de centralised.
I have tried your suggestion but bevause of the way i am stretching it it does not matter if you pull one side more than the other, everything still stretches in equal proportions

                    WOW. Very nice...

Can I ask, did you do it in b&w as well? Not that theres anything wrong with the colour, just with all the tones, I wondered what it would look like.

Deleted previous post as for some reason, managed to post twice.

Wonder no more - I think it does convert well to mono although i still prefer the colour version with its limited colour pallate

Still nice in B&W. One wonders what FP4 would have made of it in ye olde days of film and MF cameras ...

B&W looks good but the colour version gets my vote.
One of these days I will get the hang of PS and get to produce an image like this.

It was quite straightforward and the only different processing to what i normally do was the two levels layers, one for the sky and the other for the foreground - a tip i picked up on another forum

                              Thanks for doing the b&w.

                              It does convert well...

I could easily see this, printed onto a big canvas over a sofa. Black and white for the Minimalistic and in colour for the people who want colour in their life
