    En Route to Islay

I should have started my Western Isles post at the beginning of the journey, rather than the end.

Our ferry from the mainland to Islay departed around lunch time on the Sunday. I was "instructed" to book an overnight stay for the Saturday evening, to allow the Bride the correct amount of beauty sleep!

With hindsight the instruction was probably for the best, as the alternative would have meant a very early start from home with all of the tension/pressure that would have produced.

I hope you enjoy your free cruise from mainland Scotland to the Isle of Islay. As always your thoughts and comment welcomed.

#1 We had time on the Sunday morning to explore beyond the ferry terminal to get a glimpse of Gigha.

#2 Our ferry across to Islay

#3 Sadly I didn't get the opportunity to identify this vessel, which was heading in the same direction as our ferry through the Sound of Islay.

#4 Our port of arrival at Islay.

Great images. I always think that there seems to be something a bit special about the light in the North of the UK.

Good set Peter. There's something particularly pleasing about the arrangement of the cloud and the rocky foreground in the first one that appeals to me.

Superb set Peter, like the colours of the rocks contrasting with the sea/sky.
