    Carraig Fhada, islay

I have made images of this lighthouse on previous trips to Islay, though not from this viewpoint. I believe its name/location translate as Long Rock.

Just after I had finished making the images and packing the camera, tripod etc. back in the car. I was having a sandwich in the car and missed an opportuity for a unique image.

An RAF Hercules appeared flying very low over the scene, right where I had previously had my camera set up!

I nearly choked on my lunch, mind you as a unique opportunity I would probably made a mess the settings of any potential images .

    As always your thoughts/comments welcome.

NB. Additional recropped image added at #4 below.

#1 I was attracted to the Sea Thrift on the rocks, though they may seem small in the frame.

    Exif: ISO 100, F16, 1/6 second

#2 A change of orientation of the same scene.

    Exif: ISO100, f16, 1/15 second

#3 A long exposure of the same scene.

    Exif: ISO100, f16, 61 seconds

#4 After seeing John's comment suggesting a crop to loose some of the sky. This is slightly different crop of the image at #3 above.

    Exif: ISO100,f16, 61 seconds

Excellent group of images Peter, last one is probably my favourite but very difficult to decide.

Very nice set, however agree with Bill regarding the last one.

A lovely set Peter, but its No 2 for me with the vegetation and Thrift in the foreground. Pity you missed the Herc

Lovely composition Peter. Number 2 is my favourite.

No 2 for me as well. There's a another island on the horizon that aligns with and echoes a bit of the rock on the left, it's only tiny but to me it adds something...

Not at all keen on 3, the long exposure doesn't work for me; it removes all the texture, detail and interest from the water and the sky...

I rather like the long exposure effect for the water, it's the wishy/washy effect on the clouds that I am not quite so happy with.

A great set and when I looked at the first image my immediate thought was to wonder what a long exposure of it would be like so it won't be any surprise that the third is my favourite (but I would crop a bit off the sky)
