    Frozen Canal

In the winter of 1988 my family, my sister's family and our parents hired a narrowboat on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

The canal was really closed (some sections had been drained for maintenance) but, as it was to celebrate a special event and our parents were regulars, the hire company made a boat available and the lock keepers ensured as much of the canal we needed would be open for us.

This photograph was taken one misty morning with the sky reflected by the ice that our narrowboat was breaking as we navigated the now frozen canal.

It was also the first photograph I won an award for (OK, it was only a club competition but we all have to start somewhere )

Taken on a EOS 650 and scanned on an a Epson FF-680W.

                Thanks folks

The film stock was almost certainly Fujifilm 400 as that was my film of choice but I'll see if I can find the negs to confirm.

                Cheers,
                John
