I didn't reply before as I am not near you nor do I have the flash you are considering, I am assuming the lack of response is becuse people are in thesame positionas me.

I don't have a flash for you to try, but I'd like to offer a little advice.

From what I've read the 565's a decent flash, but doesn't high-speed-sync, and the 568 (which does) isn't compatible with the all the Canon range. I've also had a negative experience with another third party flash, a Nissin 866 ii which went bang after only a year.

Consequently, as I was concerned about future compatibility, wanted a full feature set, and having bought cheap compromise items in the past which I'd come to regret, I went the Canon route rather than saving a few £'s on the Yongnuo

That's not to say the 565 isn't a bargain buy, just that it may not be possible in a short space of time to determine any shortcomings, in my experience it may be better to spend the extra for the real-deal.

Canon 580's can be had for around £200 second-hand, and a 430's only £185 with the current cash back offers, which may be worth thinking about

Whatever you choose, I hope it works out well, and if you go the 565 route please report back on your findings!

Following on from SJP's comments above, I myself considered the Yongnuo flash and got an authentic Canon 580EX instead. No regrets.
