Suitable flash for 250D

I've looked at the EL-100 Flash for my 250D on Canon's web site and every Canon camera under the sun is listed as being compatible with it except the 250D. Can anyone confirm this is the case? Also is there any third party flash that will work with the 250D? I've heard a lot of criticism that my 250D is not compatible with any flash except Canons.

According to this the 250D should be OK with any EX or EL speedlite...
