Sólfar The Sun Voyager is a dreamboat, an ode to the sun. Intrinsically, it contains within itself the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom. The sculpture is located by Sæbraut, by the sea in the centre of Reykjavík, Iceland. A sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason (1931 - 1989).

Re: The Moods of Sólfar, Reykjavík
Thanks Tigger.
Be sure to go on a Golden Circle tour whilst you're there. Also the nearby HARPA centre is a great photo opp as well.
As far as the local are concerned summer had arrived at the start of May, but we were still wearing thermal underwear, heavy jackets, hats and gloves. The locals however didn't seem to be wearing too much more than t-shirts and hoodies. I'll bet they laugh at all the soft tourists. The Police were called to a disturbance at a Pub we were at one night and of course they were wearing short sleeved shirts. One of our tour guides told us it got to 25c once in Reyjiavik.

Re: The Moods of Sólfar, Reykjavík
this is the tour - not cheap at 4k each and it will be for 2 of us
funny about the clothing, we see that here with people in shorts & tshirts in Feb when residents are still rapped up. One day I was in a restaurant with fires on and there was people sunbathing on the beach
you'll see your shot as the first location

Re: The Moods of Sólfar, Reykjavík
Looks like a great tour Tigger. I look forward to seeing what you capture
We were there for nine nights and got a serviced apartment and did day tours out of Reykjavik depending on what the weather was looking like. All in all I think we got pretty lucky with the weather. We spoke with friends before we left who had been there in the middle of summer and said the weather was really cold and wet for them.
The cathedral Hallgrímskirkja is also pretty amazing
