    Leyburn

Joint led a 10 miler from Aysgarth to Leyburn (with a railway theme). Weather was okay for walking but dull for photography. Quite muddy.

Very nice part of country is Richmondshire. The aim of the heritage railway (Wensleydale Railway) is a 40 mile line linking the ECML and the Settle and Carlisle.

    1. Aysgarth Falls (quite a lot of water about)

    2. Passenger carrying Vintage Bus

The 127 which had departed Ripon 09:40 arrives Hawes 11:45 (seen here in Aysgarth).

    3. Bolton Castle (in Castle Bolton)

The eighth Lord Bolton wasn't about to offer us some coffee.

    4. Redmire Station

Anyone stationed at Catterick (in days gone by) may recall 'adventures' using Redmire station and MoD trains.

    5. Industrial archaeology

    6. Route

As usual 40D plus 17-40L. Testing a KatzEye focusing screen. Back Button Focus. Typically f/4 1/500 200ISO

Fell free to report technical or narrative blunders.

    Thanks for stopping by.

My vote goes to the bus as well.

Where on your route was the industrial archaeology and how did you find the focussing screen ?

SE 079 907 (leave the A684 at Wensley and head towards Preston-under-Scar then having crossed the heritage railway you are nearly there). On the above route - it's about midway between Redmire and Leyburn (the noticeable little loop going south a bit).

Well the focusing screen didn't impact me at all ... I'm waiting until I attach a 300 plus 1.4 to test it out.

Thanks Ray. I thought I'd have a play (B&W, Green filter, film grain) ... okay I'm not artistic but got this.

Actually a very nice place to walk and quite a lot of photographic interest. Will be back there next year walking and hope there's steam in service on't railway.

The bus is may fave closely followed by the chimney.

If you could clone out the aerial on the black and white, it would transport it back a few years.

Ah, what memories! At the tender age of 16 (I'm now 50), this is where my wife and I became an item. We stayed at the station for a week with friends, it used to be and possibly may still be used by the Scouts.

Andy - "The station house at Redmire Station is owned by 2nd Acomb Scout group and they have used it to house tourists staying in the Yorkshire Dales and to their own benefit for scouting activities."

Of the 5 station master houses I've lived in ... none now exist ... I wonder if that's a record
