    Hawkshead Cumbria

    This was taken in December, but I've just tried a bit of editing and thought I'd post now.

    Hawkshead Church

    Another slightly different edit.

    The 2nd edit for me as it gives more interest to the church, than the sheep on field.

      Re: Hawkshead Cumbria

      I would do a blend of the two.

      The stonework and lower field is much better on the second, but the middle field and sky suffer a little, so I would grab those from the first shot and blend to get the best of both edits.

          I'd like the same as Colin but also maybe a bit of graduated filter on the sky, if you have that facility.

            Or just a bit of dodge and burn in photoshop !

              If you don't mind a comment from a rank-amateur, I just had a quick play with this one; and IMHO it would look much better as a monochrome conversion! With some graduation in the sky, it looks pretty good to me!

                Thanks David, Paul and Lee. I tried blending the earlier two images, but failed miserably. I'll have another go when I'm in the right frame of mind.

                I also tried mono, not sure it's very effective.

                  B&W looks really good Andy but i think it needs some burning to the sky.

                    Thanks Alan. I'm not sure if I can do anything with the sky (I don't know what else to do). It was very flat on my image and I've tried to recover it as best as my limited abilities allow.

                      I like edit 2 However I personally would have bypassed the church and gone straight to the Kings Arms

                        Hello Andy;

                        I'm far from an expert in post-processing, but here's a real quick play...

                        I did three simple adjustments in Photoshop Elements;
                        - Lightened Shadows by 30 [Enhance, Adjust Lighting, Shadows/Highlights]
                        - Darkend Highlights by 20
                        - Added Midtone Contrast of 20.

                        This has introduced noise because the image is small, but there'd be a lot more leeway in the original, moreso if it is a RAW file...

                        Hope that gives you a few ideas...

                        Lee
                        Cheers;
