    The disused Tannery

I was getting a bit twitchy at not having been out today, so I grabbed the camera just before the sun vanished. These were taken just on the edge of my village.

That area deserves more exploration Andy. Looks like you could get some really great images there. Btw theses are pretty good also.

That's a lovely village you live in Andy, can I visit? lol

Really nice shots... I was just thinking that that would make a very good after dark venue, with a few speedlights! Perhaps some long exposure shots with flashlights painting some of the features?

        All the best, Mike.

Now there's an idea Mike, light-painting a derelict factory, I like that (if only I had a derelict factory on my doorstep)

Nice images Andy, very evocative, I especially like the evening sky. Perhaps just a tad too much foreground or too little foreground interest though?

Andy, if you don't mind me saying so - good in parts.
It's a great subject and I like the skies and I love the trees against it in no 2. Like SJP, though, I think you've overdone the foreground in each; I can see you've tried to use it to get a sense of desolation, but in no 1 my eye gets drawn to what looks like a white object in the centre. On examination I can see that it is reflecting water and not a piece of rubbish, but I'd try cropping the bottom up to the base of the grasses so that the amount of grass balances the sky.
In no 2 the amount of dark foreground makes it look too underexposed. Again, I'd try cropping up until it is about square.
            Just my thoughts.

Very good ... I can see why Tom likes these as I think they'll lend themselves to some B&W treatment. Me, I think a star filled sky behind (and the building lit by painting with a high powered LED torch). You might have a project here !!!

I've tried another edit with the 2nd image. I used CS5 to add a gradient which lightened the foreground (I wanted to keep that), then used ME2 to play with the contrast and add saturation and vignette for effect. It won't be to everyone's taste though.

That is a really good version. I much prefer it.
