    London

I was going through some older images trying out various settings and filters in Lightroom and ended up with these two very different images...

St Pauls by cyberdavis, on Flickr

    Westminster by cyberdavis, on Flickr

The second is probably a bit 'marmite' and will divide people, but i quite liked the comic book style.
    Thoughts?
    Andy

Whilst the detail and sharpness of the first makes it a belter, I really like the second too. I would never have been brave enough to take a picture where the bridge wall obscures much of the tower, plus the top is clipped off, but by processing it like that the emphasis is on the style not so much the subject, so it really works. Did you have that processing in mind when you took it? And how did you do it?

When I took the original image I was trying to use the leading lines of the bridge wall to lead into the clock tower of Big Ben, but I was not convinced at the time it worked. So had not touched the image since taking it back in April.

Then this week whilst having a few days off I've been playing in around in Lightroom and trying different options, processes and presets.
I had downloaded the free PhotoEffects 8 for a play and this effect is one of the ones included in that.
Having seen the effect whilst 'messing' about with another image I decided to see what it would do for this image.
First I did the usual exposure, contrast etc in Lightroom then applied the effect. Overall I like the comic book or film poster style, obviously not right for all images but I'll try it again and play around with its settings.

Like both and the effect on the second works well. Probably the only change I would make would be to lighten the second a bit.

Thanks for looking and the comments, will probably revisit the second image to play around with the effect a bit more and tweak it.
