Conversions good and it works but for me the colour version is far superior

Thanks Gordon must admit that was my feeling too and I suspect that B&W conversions will certainly suit some images more.

On that idea how about this one of Roughting Linn

IMO and for what it's worth Ant, Dunstanburgh suits the colour version better than mono . The waterfall however I am undecided, the highlights in the mono conversion really brings the shot to life but I feel the colour shot holds the interest and that just sways it for me.

I think colour is best on both of these.

Cheers guys, interesting to see views and think I agree with everyone.

Will look at other subjects and see if a conversion works better with them.

Though I do wonder if you'd seen the B&W version in isolation would they have been OK?

Colour for me too Ant, in the waterfall one the B&W foliage just seems to overpower the waterfall IYSWIM

See what you mean the waterfall sort of blends in to rest of image.

I think a crop of the lower part of the fall, below the branch which comes in from the RHS may...work in B&W

I like both, the colour has a nice warm feel and the mono strengthens the rocks in the foreground without having the distraction of the colour.

Colour for second one as well Ant though again the conversions still good but the colour version just adds more to the image
