    Red House, Bexleyheath

Red House is a National Trust property in SE London, that was commissioned by, jointly designed by and lived in (from 1860 to 1865) by artist, designer, poet and founder of the Arts & Crafts movement, William Morris. He intended it to be a rural idyll but the commute to the train station turned out to be too much, but of course it is now fully subsumed into suburbia. The National Trust only acquired it 10 years ago and it was in private hands for the intervening time, but it is very well preserved, albeit with only a few items of original furniture, but well worth a visit.
The sun was quite harsh when we visited, and there was obviously quite low lighting inside, so all 4 images here are double exposures (hand held) combined in PSE. And yes, there is wonkiness throughout, that's just the way it is.

A nice set Alex, the interior ones in particular. Aren't they all a bit wonky though

Nice looking building the RHS chimney looks a bit precarious I'm not sure that brace would do much to keep it in place!. You've manage to capture the interior images very well Alex. Two things in the passage image that caught my eye, not from a photographic aspect, more of an observation really. The heating is just the pipework and no radiator, plus the strategically place acorns to dissuade visitors from sitting on the three chairs
                Well done ALex

Thanks Ian, Chris, Alan, Sue, Tom, Derek, Peter, much appreciated. The house certainly fulfilled the oft-quoted 'to have nothing that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful'.

Stan, Paul, thanks. The artistic community that revolved around Morris at the time (partly because he was the only one that owned a property!) were very keen on coloured glass so many of the windows were painted, some beautifully and some almost naively and there was a lovely sense of light throughout the house even though it looked somewhat dark from the outside.

Jenny, thanks, much appreciated. I have been inspired over the past year or so by images I have seen on here to improve these 'interior' types of images, and I have now fallen into the technique of hand held +/- 2 bracketed high speed shots that I combine using layer masks in Elements. Fairly pleased with the results given the conditions if I may say so myself.
