    New Birmingham New Street

Meandered through B'ham today and looked at the recently opened New Street Station development. From outside 'tis covered in shiny stainless steel punctuated by giant "eyes" that are TV screens showing a series of adverts -

Inside has been opened up and includes the new "Grand Central" eating/shopping mall -

The roof is going to be interesting - plastic stuff like used in the Eden Project in Cornwall -

These all taken with the little Ixus as I was in town for a different reason, but must return with the EOS and appropriate lenses and explore/photograph more fully - I think it is going to be quite an iconic structure.

Sadly anything to do with trains is still dark, dingy, underground and smelling of diesel fumes. Disappointing if, like me, you think a station is somewhere where you go to catch trains, but I suppose shopaholics will be thrilled.

    Cheers, Chris.
    Just chuggin' along.

        Nš 3 for me!

You must return with proper camera and lenses, that ceiling will certainly reward some differing viewpoints

Look like a place that could warrant many hours exploring and looking for the shots, the roof especially.

Looks a good location. I like the abstract feel of the last one

                Thanks for the comments.
I certainly will return - better equipped next time. The stainless steel stuff wraps around the whole station/Grand Central/John Lewis (major new store) complex, punctuated by 3 of the "eyes" that show tele pictures. When I was there the last "eye" and bit of shiny steel over the other station entrance was just being completed.
A "sample" of the stainless steel stuff was erected a few years ago by the side of one of the railway lines going in to Birmingham to make sure its self-cleaning properties were effective - seems so, and that structure has just been dismantled.
                Cheers, Chris.

Hmm very interesting Chris, look forward to seeing the next ones. Mention of diesel fumes, could have been worse, might have been following a VAG group diesel!!
