Chinese Lantern Festival at Chiswick House

Going to see the Chinese Lantern Festival tomorrow.
Any suggestions for capturing images with the wow factor?
I'm travelling light, only taking 100D and 16-300mm lens.
    Thanks in advance.

We did this when it was at Longleat before Christmas

Have a look at our flickr album here

Its got all the exif for each shot. BTW, not a god idea to use a tripod as with lots of people about it would be too difficult to get clear shots

Thank you Stan. They look brilliant. I have now also packed the 10-18mm lens!

It was an amazing evening. They certainly have the wow factor. The only disappointment was that there was no clear view of the dragon. Across the lake it was obscured by trees and other displays, and behind it there were poplar trees and stone urns! So I didn't really need to take the 10-18mm lens. Most of the time I used f8 and under-exposed by about 2 stops. So I have a busy morning reviewing them all now. A friend got some excellent shots on her phone when she set it to HDR. Thanks for your help.

worth going for the spectacle alone with shoots a bonus. The dragon was one of the really wow factors and at longleat the head was facing the path so easier to get a clear shot. The terracotta warriors were also stunning

Janet, lovely images, clean and crisp and hard to pick a favourite, but as a different image I do really like the silhouettes against the apples.

Looks like you did well and there were a few different to those at Longleat

Thanks. I mainly went with f8 and under exposed by between -2 and -1.5. I also used the Custom Function 1 settings for my 100D that Nathaniel had recommended in a previous post, which saved time on post production time.
