I had intended to post this on the Centenary anniversary of the Battle of Jutland on 31-5-16.
It is installed at St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall, Orkney to commemorate the Centenary of the Battle of Jutland in WW1, designed by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper as part of the 14-18 NOW more famed for the Blood Swept Lands at the Tower of London. (as is Steve's great Liverpool shots)
The commemoration and service as seen in the news on the 31st was due to Scappa Flow on Orkney being the home of the Royal Navy's Grand Fleet which lost over 8000 lives in the battle at Jutland.
I only live just over the water and know I had family at Jutland (who made it back) so I had to make the effort and very glad I did.
So here are 3 from my visit,
